The Mac app takes over an Obeya left running without it

Shared by Daniel Sadilek on October 30, 2026

On a Mac, Obeya and its agents reach devices on the local network with the permission of the app that started them. If the app crashed or was force-quit, Obeya kept running without an app behind it, and every connection of its agents into the local network failed until Obeya was quit. Opening the app again now notices this and restarts Obeya under the app, at the moment a restart for new code would: once the agents have finished their current step, so none is cut off. Obeya started from a terminal is left alone.
